"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves."
INDIVIDUAL & FAMILY THERAPY
I offer in-person individual and family therapy sessions for children ages 3-18 and their families. Virtual session are available on request. I use experiential therapy, EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing as my primary methods of counseling. When appropriate, I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. During summer, I will offer adventure therapy sessions outdoors. My desire is to help children and their families to meet their goals for change. I believe you are the expert in your own life. I want to help you and your child find your way to positive change using tools you already have and the new ones we can identify together. Contact me to today to start your journey.
Find freedom from the past
I have a completion certificate from the EMDR institute for basic training. I have also completed training to provide EMDR for children age 6 and upwards. If you notice that your child needs help to reprocess past memories so that they are no longer disturbing, this type of therapy can help him/her.
Strengthen your family relationships
Especially for children and teens, family relationships are of high importance. Did you know that teens identify their parents as their number one influence? And most want a close relationship. If you are feeling stuck in your relationship with your child, now may be a good time to work on your relationships with each other.
Overcome personal challenges
Life throws many surprises at us, and while we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to certain situations. In individual therapy, your child can learn to identify what works to overcome life's obstacles.
I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with my Masters Degree in Social Work in May 2000. Since then I have provided therapy to clients ranging in age from 3 to 80. I am currently offering services for children 3-18 and their families. For 10 years, I worked in various non-profit agencies throughout California and earned my LCSW there. In 2010, my husband and I moved to Alaska and I have been practicing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in AK since then. I received training for Motivational Interviewing in 2011 and in 2019 I completed training in EMDR therapy.
